The Perfect Travel Destination for Food Lovers
There are plenty of reasons that motivate us to travel. Whether it be the festivals, shopping, or nightlife. Exploring the culture or the thirst for knowledge is the key to everything, including finding new foods to love. If you’re a food lover like us then it will be your taste buds that will lead the way.
Whether it’s an expensive restaurant or family run eateries, we believe eating the local cuisine of the country sums up the flavours of the place. Now being the food lover that we are, we have selected a few restaurants that are renowned for their haute cuisine.
Paris - For Sweet Bakeries and Fine Parisian Dinners:
If you fancy a trip where you know everything tastes luxurious then Paris is the place. What I love about eating in Paris, is the presentation but most importantly the flavours. Almost every dish looks like a work of art and Parisians take pride in using the finest ingredients and quality produce.
Café de Flore is but one place of reconnaissance, the perfect option for breakfast, especially their eggs, croissants and hot chocolates. The Peninsula is another, known for their lunch and dinner at Le Relais de L’Entrecôte for the most delicious steak frites and red wine. If you fancy a cheeky sweet dessert after all of that then Ladureé is the place for their macarons.
Morocco - For a Feast of the Tongue & Eyes!
Morocco’s dishes are hearty and wholesome, the kind cooked from the soul!
This is definitely a place for those that aren’t afraid of flavour, coming out of their comfort zone and possibly going into a hearty food coma at the end of every meal. Whether you’re in Casablanca, Marrakech or Fez, Moroccan dishes cater to all. You may prefer the veggie options, the meat, or the seafood; just know that the flavour remains amongst all.
It is well known that the chicken pastilla is out of this world; a scrumptious crispy chicken pie packed with a blend of saffron, almonds, cinnamon, sweet orange water, a spicy omelette stuffing and topped with powdered sugar. This dish truly takes sweet and savoury to different heights.
That and a tagine, a mouth watering aromatic stew-like dish slow-cooked in a cone shaped earthenware pot, leaving you feeling full and content.
Lisbon - The Peri Peri Chicken is a Need at This Point!
A cheeky Nandos is a must when you’re in London, but in Lisbon is where you will find the authenticity of the peri peri chicken. There are so many dishes to try in Lisbon, making it the perfect place for foodies.
The seafood paella is probably the best that you’ll ever taste in a country and the Pasteis de Natas. You may have bought these Portuguese custard tarts in a supermarket back home but Portugal has the real deal.
In Lisbon these sweet treats are very iconic. The light, flaky pastry and rich, smooth custard centre will have you swept off your feet, forcing you to have these daily. End your meal with a fresh beer, then head over to Museu da Cerveja, otherwise known as the beer museum, to have even more!
Istanbul - Picture Perfect Dining:
We don’t know about you, but we are guilty of taking a picture of our food before we start eating it. Istanbul is one of those cities that have breath taking views, and wonderful scenery to accompany your pics.
Seven Hills Restaurant feeds your Instagram needs by providing a mouth watering spread of food, and stunning views of Istanbul’s skyline with the Hagia Sophia.
Many of us know Salt Bae, having seen him do the infamous salt sprinkle. What if we told you he’s got a restaurant in The Grand Bazaar? Nusr-Et Steakhouse Sandal Bedesteni, located within one of the world’s largest covered markets.
While on the go, stop and try some of the sweetest baklava and some delicious Turkish delights at the famous Spice Bazaar, a massive colourful market where you will find mountains of spices. May all your food dreams come true as you embark on your journey!
