Burberry Marks the Queen's Jubilee with Displays of Green Treasures
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is being celebrated far and wide, with many celebrations and dedicated events taking place across the UK. Burberry has unveiled a series of their own special displays in London.
The British luxury brand has come up with a particular collectible; the brand new commemorative scarf. Taking over the square-shaped silk accessory are hand-drawn motifs inspired by ancient British woodlands and their flora and fauna. The colourful hues feature Yew trees, bluebells, butterflies, squirrels, and birds which are a commemoration of the four British nations: a robin for England, capercaillie for Scotland, sparrowhawk for Northern Ireland, and golden eagle for Wales. The scarf’s creation was marked by Burberry’s pledge to biodiversity.
Burberry kicked off the festivities on May 30th with a zero-waste floating meadow display surrounding the Tower of London. The project is an extension of the Tower of London’s floral-themed “Superbloom” installation. Aiming to promote pollination, the plant's selected area is a reflection of the English river ecosystems. One of the main goals of this project is to highlight the role that natural grasslands and marshes play in storing carbon, and how flowering species play in providing food and nectar to pollinators and common riverside wildlife.
Another installation worth visiting is the Art Wall created in collaboration with digital artist Jon Emmony. The artwork illustrates a future utopian world with biodiversity and nature at its centre. Emmony said he took inspiration from the “detail of Elizabethan tapestries and textile designs and visualised nature unfolding”. This display is located at the entrance of Superbloom at the Tower of London.
