Here, for your viewing pleasure, we have a compilation of the best contemporary artists on the globe who have left us and continue to leave us speechless with their art.

Jeffrey Koons

Jeff Koons is one of the most famous contemporary artists. His work carries out the transformation of banal and mundane objects into fine art, which will become icons of modern art. Koons draws inspiration from concepts such as the media and celebrities. His goal is to create a mirror of society where he shows the contradictions of the human being. The contradictions are not only shown in his art, but the viewers also have quite conflicting opinions, there are those who love him and those who hate him, but regardless of this, Koons has carved out a niche for himself as one of the best artists of the moment.

Bearbricks

Many of you will wonder… what are the Bearbricks?

The Bearbricks are a series of collectible figures created by the Japanese company Medicom Toy. All these figures are in the form of an anthropomorphic bear. Most of them are made up of different removable parts: the legs, the head, and the arms are articulated.

The first Bearbrick figure was created in 2001 for the World Character Convention 12 in Tokyo. Since then, this plastic model has become a worldwide pop phenomenon. Many brands like Gucci or Supreme and artists have collaborated with Medicom Toy to offer Bearbricks in their own colors. Currently, some of these exclusive figures cost thousands of dollars.

Miquel Barcelo

Miquel Barceló is an artist of Catalan origin, recognized for his installation on the ceiling of the Palace of Human Rights and the Alliance of Civilizations of the UN Palace of Nations in Geneva. Since then Miquel has devastated the most recognized art galleries and museums in the world, showing the creation of his art, which without a doubt is personal and unique. His work explores metamorphosis, decomposition and the passage of time in an abstract way. If this were not enough, it is worth mentioning that Barceló, in 2004 emptied the record of being the youngest artist who exhibited his art at the Louvre in Paris. If this is not an achievement, then what is?

Luo Zhongli

Luo Zhongli is one of the most recognized contemporary realist artists today. Unlike other abstract face artists, Zhongli's photorealistic portraits of faces from southwestern China have stirred emotions in people all over the world. You will probably recognize him from the famous portrait of him "Father" where we can find the face of a Chinese peasant recreated in impressive detail. Zhongli is one of the most acclaimed artists by Chinese art collectors.

George Condo

As main references, Condo is inspired by the abstract face style of Picasso, Matisse, Goya, Velazquez and Cy Twombly. Yet George Condo developed his style in a very significant way by playing with the form of the human body that explores the private, timeless or invisible aspects of humanity,

Rudolph Stingel

Rudolf Stingel is an Italian artist based in New York. His contemporary painting style has been questioned throughout his career, but Stingel created one thing from this, he wanted his works to create a dialogue and from that dialogue he would produce more art. After his art was exhibited at the Whitney Museum in New York in 2007, prices for his works skyrocketed, making him one of the most acclaimed contemporary artists.

Christopher Wool

Christopher Wool made a name for himself in the New York contemporary fine art industry in the 1980s. His works are shocking and impulsive and this shocked critics. His most recognized works are on a white canvas and with powerful letters in black. His works like Apocalypse Now (“Sell the house, sell the car, sell the kids”) and If You (“If you can't take a joke, you can get the hell out of my house”) grossed between $15 million and $30 million at Christie's. . Auction house.

Jean-Michel Basquiat

Basquiat was undoubtedly one of the most recognized contemporary artists on the contemporary art scene, being the most acclaimed artist of African descent to date. He is recognized for creating works of explosive pigmentation and reference to his Caribbean and Latin descent. In addition, Basquiat represented a lot of the urban culture of New York, emitting through his paintings what his eyes saw.

Peter Doig

Peter Doig is a Scottish artist who trained and experimented between Trinidad, Canada and England. His works are exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London which explore Magical Realism as a concept. Doig draws inspiration from movies, newspapers, photographs, record albums and artists such as Edvard Munch. In 2002 after moving back to Trinidad he opened his first studio and shortly after in 2007 he sold his work “White Canoe” for $11.3 million making him (for the time) the most sought after contemporary European artist.

There are so many wonderful collections direct from the runway, and these are the 247Trends picks we've shortlisted this week as the ‘ones to watch’. 

Halpern Studio 

Unmissable, both literally and figuratively. Halpern Studio takes the phrase ‘one to watch’ a step further by visually captivating audiences. Bright colours, exotic prints and enthralling details have become no less than fine art under the namesake label. Their rising popularity is to be expected given the legendary houses Michael Halpern has worked with, including Oscar de la Renta and Versace. Since the launch of Halpern Studio in 2017, they have ben wowing the fashion world from the catwalk to the member’s clubs. Party wear will never be the same.  

Molly Goddard 

‘Tis the season to be Molly. Molly Goddard hss slowly but surely been taking over the world of glitx and glam with her combination of eclectic print and tulle extravaganza’s. Images of pastel organza have burst onto the pages of international fashion social media, with the likes of Rosamund Pike and rising star Nicola Coughlan styling their looks to perfection. Never afraid of experimenting with textiles, Goddard has also released a line of cute knitwear and bridalwear. Needless to say, she has cemented her position on the british designers to know and love list. 

Taller Marmo

The embodiment of their name. Translating to words akin to ‘artisan laboratory’ and ‘marble decadence’ Taller Marmo have showcased the best of understated opulence. With the founders having cited the likes of Diana Ross and Elizabeth Tayler as some of their many muses, it’s no wonder Taller Marmo’s aesthetic is filled with the silks and satin of old Hollywood. Their silhouettes also pay homage to Europe to the Middle East. A single item serves all the decadence a dinner party could ever need. As their bio says, Taller Marmo is for the most fabulous people in the world. 

Paris Georgia 

Paris Georgia’s collections are the nothing if not versatile. The perfect mediator between daytime and evening wear, their looks have an effortlessness that caters to a number of different occasions. This new Zealand based brand have catered to a fluid, contemporary profile in which a simple outfit equates to appropriate looks for the bar or the banquet. Best friends turned business partners Paris Mitchell and Georgia Cherrie have given 90s minimalism the ultimate twist, making them a firm fashion-industry favourite.
